Vivian "Jackie" Jacqueline Baker

Vivian Jacqueline “Jackie” Baker passed away on August 28, 2026, following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life for Jackie will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time at Cave Spring Baptist Church, with Dr.Jarrod Kinsey officiating. The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering at the church prior to the service from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made in Jackie’s memory to the Humane Society. Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Walter Baker, and her sister, Pam Baker. She is survived by her mother, Edith Faye Coursey Baker; sister, Joni (Tony) Dobbs; her special nieces and nephews, Jeffery (Leanna) Morton, Marisa Baert (Brooks), Braden (Addison) Baert, and Kenzie Canant; and two great-nephews, Sawyer Morton and Bennett Baert. She also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends who will miss her more than words can say. Jackie was one of those people who simply made life a little more fun. She was witty, funny, quick with a good story, and had a beautiful smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed a good laugh and a good time, and those who knew her knew there was rarely a dull moment when Jackie was around. Beneath that wonderful sense of humor was a kind and giving heart. She was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there when somebody she cared about needed her. Family was at the heart of Jackie’s life, and being “Aunt Jackie” was one of her greatest joys. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and was one of their biggest cheerleaders through the years. Ballgames, accomplishments, special occasions, or just everyday life—Jackie was there, cheering them on and taking great pride in whatever they were doing. She had a way of making each of them know just how proud she was to call them hers. Jackie was an avid Georgia Tech fan and had a lifelong love for sports. She was quite the athlete herself back in the day and never minded reminiscing about those years and telling a story or two about the good old days. Her love of sports gave her the opportunity to be part of something especially memorable when she volunteered during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Jackie worked for BellSouth for more than 30 years before retiring. She also believed in giving her time to others and volunteered to help with the annual Christmas parades in Atlanta. Whether it was through her work, volunteering, or simply helping someone along the way, Jackie had a generous spirit and enjoyed doing for others. When she had some time to herself, Jackie was happiest doing the simple things she enjoyed most—fishing, spending time at the lake, traveling, and making memories with family and friends. She had a soft spot for animals and cared deeply for them, which was just another reflection of her tender heart. Jackie was truly sweet as could be, with a big heart, a quick wit, and a smile folks won’t soon forget. She knew how to laugh, how to have a good time, and most importantly, how to show up for the people she loved. She leaves behind plenty of good stories to tell, laughter to remember, and precious memories that her family will hold close in the days and years ahead. Jackie spent a lifetime cheering for the people she loved. And while her family will surely miss hearing her voice, they will carry with them the encouragement she gave, the laughter she brought, the good times they shared, and that beautiful smile that made “Aunt Jackie” so very special.
