Frances Stowe Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Frances Margret Naugher Stowe 94 Leesburg Alabama passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Awbrey Island in Leesburg Alabama January 24 2022. Born on April 28th 1927 she was the middle child of nine. Brought up on a self sufficient cotton farm in the lower part of Pollards Bend with her family which instilled in her a self-reliance character that would last her life time. She graduated from Cherokee County High School in 1947. In 1971 her family moved to Aubrey Island where she enjoyed gardening and was especially fond of dogwood trees and azaleas. There summer weekends were spent cooking out with family and friends by the water. Frances worked at Deans Pharmacy in Centre until retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband; Elmo Stowe. Parents; Horace Savage and Maxie Ruth Naughter. Sisters; Sally Cothran, Annie Ruth Maxey, Rebecca Adams. Brothers; Milton Naugher, M.S. Naugher, Hardy Naugher. She is survived by her daughter; Sandra Traffanstedt (Johnny), son; Terry Stowe (Deborah), sisters; Mary Eubanks, Cora Dene Stowe. Grandchildren; Chad Traffanstedt, Amiee Brannon, Johnna Traffanstedt, Kalan Stowe,Courtney Statum, Greg Martinez, Ramona Daniel. Great grandchildren; Aubrey Traffanstedt, John Thomas Brannon, Caroline Brannon, Harlyn Vaughn, Scarlet Statum, Sadie Statum. Frances loved fishing, bird watching, gardening and all nature. She enjoyed hunting with her sister Cora in Kentucky and sightseeing in her Ford pickup with her sister Mary. In the fall stopping to watch modern day cotton pickers work was one of her favorite things. She loved watching baseball, collecting baseball cards and playing Rook into the wee hours of the night. Frances lived a long and prosperous life and was content to accept the fate that faces us all. she will live forever in our minds.
