Norman E. Jones, Sr. of Cedar Bluff, AL, former resident of Marietta, GA, was called home to be our Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Norman is survived by daughters, Carolyn Carter, Rockmart, GA; Brenda (Larry) Bennett, Ellijay, GA; Charlotte (Millard) Davis, Atlanta, GA; son, Norman E. Jones, Jr., Cedar Bluff, AL; four step-children: Lee (Bette) Maddox, Tucker, GA; Daniel (Debbie) Maddox, Buchanan, GA; Clay (Sue) Maddox, Cleveland, TN; and Ayn (Charles) Cagney-Loomis, Pelham, AL; brother, Warren L. (Carole) Jones, New Orleans, LA; and his wife of 47 years, Helen Jones, Cedar Bluff, AL, seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones retired from Lockheed-Martin Aerospace in Marietta, GA in April 1989, with 38 years of service as Supervisor of Tool Planning Engineers Department 47/16. World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Air Force, South Pacific Arena Emeritus Member of Kennesaw Lodge 33, F & AM, Marietta, GA Emeritus Member of Constantine Commandery No 26, K.T., Marietta, GA Emeritus Member of Cherokee Chapter 13, RAM, State of Georgia Emeritus Member of Yaarab Shrine, Atlanta, GA Past President Kennesaw Shrine Motor Unit, Marietta, GA Past Patron Marietta, GA Chapter 208, OES First President IAM AW District Lodge 33, (now Lodge 709), Marietta, GA Life Member of American Legion Post #29, Marietta, GA Life Member of VFW Post 2681, Marietta, GA Past President Cherokee, AL Chapter 3216 AARP Member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church, Cedar Bluff, AL Resided in Marietta, GA for 38 years, where he was involved in community projects and politics, then moved permanently to Cedar Bluff, AL in 1989 and continued his volunteer work. He enjoyed working in the community, building projects for the Cedar Bluff Christmas Park Decorations (sleigh and reindeer), calling bingo games for the Assisted Living Center, and Senior Citizens Bingo. He especially enjoyed doing for his church and helping those in need. Norman was a very loving Dad, loved children. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were “his life”. He was also a great husband. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13th from 4 to 6 pm at Perry Funeral Home in Centre, AL. Funeral services will be at 6 pm at the funeral home with Dr. Mark Cosby and Rev. Teddy Carter (grandson) officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Park Cemetery 410 Whitlock Avenue; Marietta, GA with military graveside services will be Thursday, April 14th at 11am CDT. The family requests no flowers.
