Pace Walker

Pace Walker age 60 of Huntsville, AL made his final transition the morning of September 7, 2024 succumbing peacefully to brain cancer. Everywhere he called home he lived life to the fullest....wide-open. Though he was born in Huntsville, AL on July 4, 1964 he spent his younger years full throttle in Villa Rica, GA. The majority of his life was spent in Huntsville where he was well known in the hot rod community. He embraced his final week of life surrounded by his family and friends in Centre, AL. Pace was strong willed and set in his ways at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and very brave. He was very clever and artistic with knowledge he gained through all of his life experiences: drag racing, building parts and cars as he could fix or build anything. Pace was exceptionally proud to be employed as a Thermal Protection Systems Subject Matter Expert for Leidos, his contribution to keeping America safe. He will be remembered for all he heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them – and if you knew him, you knew it. When it came time for Pace to leave us, he carried himself with dignity, strength and full of love for those he was leaving behind. He will be missed dearly. Family He Left Behind Pace is survived by his wife: Gwendolyn Luckhart Walker; His children: Emery Hyre and Ora Hyre of Huntsville; His two younger brothers: Jae Walker of Hazel Green and Miles (Anna) Walker of Peachtree City, GA; His sister: Kim (Kyle) Long of Huntsville; His two aunts: Brenda Walker of Centre and Sandy Moneymaker of Honolulu, Hawaii; Several nieces and nephews. His chosen son: Brandon Lawler of Huntsville. He is also survived by a host of friends many he proudly called his brothers. Family Who Went Before Pace was predeceased by: His father: James Rayford “Ray” Walker of Centre; His mother: Marcia Jean Moneymaker Campbell and Billy Joe Campbell of Huntsville; His brother: Marty Joe Campbell of Huntsville. A celebration of life will occur at Berryhill Funeral Home Huntsville, AL with details to be determined. Family and friends will be notified.
